Our Approach to Dermatology Care

We do not believe in guesswork. Many skin conditions look similar but require very different treatments. We use advanced dermoscopy and, where necessary, biopsy to ensure an accurate diagnosis before starting treatment.

As a private dermatologist in Birmingham, Dr Al-Kutubi follows British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) guidelines, ensuring you receive safe, proven, and effective medical care.

Chronic conditions like eczema and psoriasis require ongoing support. We create long-term management plans that fit your lifestyle, helping you control flare-ups and maintain healthy skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to see a private dermatologist in Birmingham?

No, you do not need a GP referral to book a consultation at House of Health. You can book directly as a self-paying patient. However, if you are using private health insurance, your provider may require a referral letter.

Dr Al-Kutubi will review your medical history and examine your skin, hair, or nails. She may use a dermatoscope (a magnifying device) to examine moles or lesions. By the end of the appointment, you will have a diagnosis and a clear treatment plan.

Simple treatments, such as cryotherapy (freezing), can often be performed during the consultation. However, surgical procedures (such as mole removal) typically require a separate appointment to ensure sufficient time and preparation.

We offer specialist dermatology appointments for young adults aged 16 to 18. We do not currently have any children under 16.

We recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage and obtaining an authorisation code before booking.

A Consultant Dermatologist is a medically trained doctor who has spent years specialising in skin disease. They can diagnose medical conditions and prescribe medication. Aestheticians generally focus on cosmetic treatments and cannot diagnose disease or prescribe medication.
