Ultrasound Scans
At House of Health, we offer comprehensive ultrasound scanning services, providing safe, non-invasive imaging to assist in diagnosing a wide range of medical conditions. Ultrasound scans are performed using high-frequency sound waves, creating detailed images of internal structures. Whether you’re experiencing pain, swelling, or other unexplained symptoms, our state-of-the-art equipment and expert clinicians ensure accurate results with minimal discomfort.
Musculoskeletal (MSK) Ultrasound
MSK ultrasound scans are designed to evaluate muscles, joints, tendons, and ligaments. These scans are particularly beneficial for diagnosing injuries, inflammation, or conditions like tendonitis, bursitis, or arthritis. With real-time imaging, we can assess movement and pinpoint the cause of pain, offering quick and accurate insights for treatment planning.
Musculoskeletal injections performed under ultrasound guidance are used to relieve pain, for example from arthritis, tendon inflammation, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciiti
Internal Organs Ultrasound
Our internal organs ultrasound service focuses on key areas such as the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, spleen, and bladder. These scans help detect abnormalities, such as gallstones, kidney stones, cysts, or tumors, and assess organ size and function. Whether for routine health checks or specific symptoms, these scans provide vital diagnostic information.
Lumps and Bumps Ultrasound
If you’ve noticed any lumps, bumps, or swelling on your body, an ultrasound scan can provide clarity. This scan determines the nature of the lump—whether it’s fluid-filled (like a cyst) or solid. It’s a critical step in evaluating potential concerns and deciding on further management or treatment.
Pelvic Ultrasound
Pelvic ultrasounds are used to examine the uterus, ovaries, and other pelvic structures. They are invaluable for identifying conditions such as ovarian cysts, fibroids, and endometrial concerns. For men, pelvic scans help assess the prostate and bladder health, aiding in the diagnosis of urinary issues.
Abdominal Ultrasound
An abdominal ultrasound evaluates the digestive organs and vascular structures, offering a thorough examination of the liver, spleen, pancreas, and intestines. It is particularly helpful in diagnosing unexplained abdominal pain, liver disease, and digestive problems.
Thyroid Ultrasound
Thyroid ultrasounds are performed to assess the thyroid gland for nodules, enlargement (goiter), or abnormalities in function. These scans are non-invasive and provide clear, detailed images, allowing early detection and effective management of thyroid-related concerns.
An ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging technique that uses sound waves to create images of the inside of your body, helping diagnose and monitor various health conditions.
No, an ultrasound is generally painless. You may feel slight pressure from the transducer, but it should not cause discomfort.
Preparation varies depending on the type of scan. For example, you may need to fast for abdominal scans or have a full bladder for pelvic ultrasounds. Specific instructions will be given prior to your appointment.
Most ultrasound scans take between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the area being examined and the complexity of the scan.
You will receive immediate verbal results with a written report often taking 24-48 hours to reach you. You can discuss any findings with our Consultant radiologist after the scan.
If there is an abnormal finding – The House of Health GP can refer you appropriately and make a plan with you. We aim to provide you with a complete service under one roof.
